This paper tries to explore the body view of Hatsune Miku by connecting with the "digital performance." Specifically, Hatsune Miku is weighed against digital performances of Merce Cunningham. It is concluded that Hatsune Miku and digital performances of Cunningham suggest that the body is not the expression of internal substance. That is to say, this genealogical study shows they attempt to release the body from the soul, which is “the prison of the body” according to Foucaut. Also, it suggests that Hatsune Miku and Cunningham's digital performances denaturalize the existing body view and open possibilities of new views.
