This study explores critical posthumanism, propounded by Stefan Herbrechter, by comparing it with transhumanism, put forward by some philosophers. Critical posthumanism is similar to transhumanism in that it assumes the technological progress has caused and will cause changes in humans and their enviroments. However, critical posthumanism is different from transhumanism in that it considers technological progress seriously because it would open the door to rethink and reconstruct exclusivity and hierarchical structure in the philosophy of modern enlightenment. Critical posthumanism seems an ethical project which leads us to heterogeneity and pluralism and makes the future of our technological society more democratic.
