Abstract

In recent years, in companies in Japan, companies that use offshore development in information system development are increasing. Offshore development is to entrust system development work to overseas system development companies and overseas subsidiaries. The introduction of offshore development can enjoy the merit of cost reduction and resource securing. However, in offshore development, several tasks also exist. On the other hand, near-shore development has attracted attention as a solution to the problem of offshore development. Nearshore development is to utilize domestic local cities and entrust system development work to domestic system development companies. The merit of nearshore development is that it can maintain and secure high quality and security. In this research, we take a case of a foreign-affiliated system company in Okinawa and consider the actual situation and problems of nearshore development.
