Change from fusion of humanities to sensemaking capability development

Abstract

As an implementation of Society 5.0 in the field of education,an attempt has been made to develop the so-called 6C ability,which has been proposed by Microsoft as Future-ready skills. But when big data, AI, and robotics become commonplace, scientific knowledge called STEAM loses competitiveness. The ability of sensemaking is essential for the next generation. In order to foster the ability of sensemaking, it is inevitable not only to reinstate humanities and social sciences but also reform education program with focus on super-disciplinary knowledge in a fusion of humanities and sciences.
