Abstract

In Japan, there were many people who were not good at keyboard operation in the 1980s, and it was said that they got "keyboard allergy." However, in the mid-1980s, some Japanese word processors were released that had been equipped with a Japanese syllabary keyboard, which helped people who were not good at keyboard operation. They wanted to use word processors because they found value in printed text, even if it took a long time to operate. And that laid the foundation for many people’s use of digital media in Japanese.
