In this paper, we apply the Shannon-Weaver model of communication to the academic public relations (PR) and propose a general framework that can be used to develop an evaluation system for the academic PR. To sketch out the current landscape of the academic PR, a survey on documents of PR principles in Japanese universities and research institutes is conducted. Based on this analysis, we 1) apply the Shannon-Weaver model, 2) identify the three levels of communications problems, that is technical, semantic, and effectiveness, introduced by Weaver clearly in the scenario of the academic PR, and 3) discuss the framework as an evaluation system of the academic PR. Finally, we apply this framework to analyse PR practitioners' abilities and skills.

In this paper, we propose the realization of an equality society for persons with the disabilities who can be distinguished from non-handicapped persons (social strong peoples and weak peoples). The persons with disabilities are a suppressed group of the society. The suppression is only increasing in conflicting society with multiple unequal distributions of the power, the status, and the wealth, such as the controlled society. In this society, persons with the disabilities have always considered coexistence with non-handicapped persons, however the different groups have the different worlds and the concepts. Therefore, although We consider that the solidarity is possible in the society, the coexistence is impossible. This means a high degree of impartiality about the segregation. We call this region of segregation Asylum. The asylum is a safety net for the social weak peoples The society seems to have gradually converged to an equilibrium point after a great historical conflict. In the trend, we have considered the way of a better society, including the research of our predecessors. However, we believe that the human can not manage the society. The asylum can be realized in a highly digitized controlled society by the advent of the artificial intelligence and highly functional machines with the control of social norms and power, the automatic production of things, It is a basic component of a society (system) that provides services and redistributes wealth. We propose such a system as this digital asylum model. The Digital Asylum Model advocates the anarchism..

This study criticizes the unity of the public sphere concept advocated by the German sociologist Jurgen Habermas and supports the pluralism. Among them, in particular, it is an attempt to criticize or support them in relation to the so-called Internet public sphere theory. It is clear from the criticism of the public sphere concept by many arguers that the unity of the public sphere must be criticized, but not all of the public sphere concept should be abandoned. Based on these, we showed the possibility of pluralistic public spheres in relation to the theory of the Internet public sphere.

This paper examined our attitude towards nihilism in today's society. First of all, we focused on the term “Satori generation” which is used for young people. Next, we pointed out that network society is a factor of “Satori”. Moreover, we argued that network society is also nihilism, but data mining technology makes it imperfect. Finally, we said that “Satori” is an attitude of resignation in imperfect today's nihilism.

This study tests the following hypothesis: "People with extreme opinions tend to express those more on social media, and the opinion distribution on social media differs from that of society." I analyze the impact of extreme opinions on the number of posts on social media, using questionnaire of 5,986 people in Japan, Korea, and the United States and Tobit model. The results show that my hypothesis was supported. Further, the more sensitive the topic, the more the number of social media posts increased depending on opinion extremity. This finding suggests that the distribution of posts on social media has bias compared to the opinion distribution in society.

This study is concerned with a method of extracting similar cities, towns, and villages in consideration of regional characteristics and visualization. Municipalities that have similar regional characteristics such as disaster risk, natural characteristics, and social characteristics are likely to have the same required disaster prevention measures, and it is considered that mutual efforts can be utilized. In this presentation, we will select the index for extracting similar cities, and visualize and relativize similar cities based on the index. After that, we will present the validity and evaluation of the method of extracting similar municipalities based on the 6 indicators.

We hypothesized that college students who exhibit new type of depressive tendency, have a higher internet addiction disorder tendency, and lead stressful lives, all of which tend to develop a more severe digital dementia tendency. Conversely, students who have a higher psychological resilience, show a preference for exercising with others and higher levels of quality of life (QOL), all of which suppress this digital dementia tendency. Longitudinal data collected by questionnaire surveys of university students in the information sciences were analyzed by structural equation modeling, and the results appeared to support our hypothesis.

The purpose of this study is to conduct a comparative analysis of Japan, the U.S., and China about inter-industry structure between ICT-producing and ICT-using industries by observing data from Japanese and international input-output tables. In the 1990s, ICT-using industries and producing industries progressed, with each being inseparable from the other. Subsequently, as globalization progressed in the 2000s and beyond against a “leakage to import” background, the ripple effect of the “ICT-using industries” toward the promotion of the “ICT-producing industries” weakened. Furthermore, this is mainly due to increased inputs from China, South Korea, etc. This is a distinctly different trend from that in the U.S., which increased domestic input while utilizing global supply systems.

In this study, we examined whether the amount of resources in a Prisoner’s Dilemma differs in partners’ choice and cooperative behavior. The results of the scenario-based experiment showed that there are no differences in the cooperation rate according to the amount of resources. However, in the selection of partners, most participants chose the rich partner in the game. We also found that rich players tend to underestimate the rate of cooperation when they choose poor partners. These results suggest that information on socioeconomic disparities has the effect of distorting cooperation estimates.

This study applies the network theory and graphical modeling analysis to demonstrate how ICT- enabled offshoring transformed international services trade since the global financial crisis in 2008. Our analyses yield three observations. First, high-income countries traditionally have strong service trade links with the U.S. due to income level proximity. Second, H-1B or L-1 visas appeal to skilled labors in lower income countries and create intensive human networks, thus expanding services trade with the U.S. Third, skilled labor networks and ICT-networks have had the most direct impact on trade in services, whereas the income level proximity had less significant and indirect impact since 2009.

This paper explores Iwai's [6] dynamic disequilibrium model, recreating it through the integration of the principles of New Keynesian models. Iwai's aforementioned model was a bold experiment in its attempt to come to grips with disequilibrium; however, the macroeconomic descriptive model packaged with it was a traditional IS-LM model. This paper endeavors to construct a model in line with New Keynesian models that incorporates Iwai's dynamic disequilibrium model. Here, this paper proposes a new dynamic disequilibrium model, comprising four equations that integrate New Keynesian models and Iwai's dynamic disequilibrium model. In addition, it discusses how to extend this model to open economies and the implications suggested by this new model. Further, an empirical analysis reveals and indexes levels of disequilibrium in product and labor markets. Issues for further study include bolstering the microeconomic foundations of the open economy model.

This research explores the situation of domestic open data promotion in 2020. In addition, in the effort to promote open data implemented by Nagano Prefecture, we studied and designed an effective open data promotion method in a short period of time and actually implemented it in cooperation with the prefecture’s local governments. we also describe the implementation of the proposed method in Yasugi City and Shimane Prefecture, as an example of lateral development. Through these practices, we confirmed certain effectiveness of the proposed method.

The aim of this paper is to examine quantitatively clarified the influence of the proximity of local governments on the approach to open data by The spatial cluster Analysis of Open data initiative local government on transition in Japan. As a result, (1) After setting a maximum distance threshold of 30 km and extracting the clusters, we found 16 Clusters of opendata municipalities with data initiatives were extracted. By region, 2 in Tohoku, 4 in Kanto, 2 in Hokuriku, 4 in Tokai, 1 in Kansai, 1 in Sanyo, 1 in Shikoku, 1 in Kyushu. (2) In the open data utilization rate by cluster in the 30-km region, Noshiro City (Akita Prefecture), Hitoyoshi City (Kumamoto Prefecture) and Saito City (Miyazaki Prefecture) were selected as clusters with 0% utilization rate.Thirteen clusters were extracted including Asahikawa, Hokkaido, as clusters with less than 20% of the population. In order to achieve the opendata 100% adoption rate, it will be effective to encourage the municipalities that form this cluster to implement open data policies.

In February 2019, two community broadcasters in Okinawa broadcasted interactive programs by young people in their 20s with different opinions and viewpoints. Ishigaki city's “FM Ishigaki Sansan Radio” and Nago city's “FM Yanbaru” stations took up the topic of local referendums on opinions regarding the Japan Self-Defense Force base positioning and the Henoko land reclamation, respectively.

By carefully examining the program content, interviews with those who appeared on the programs, and interviews with the radio operators, this thesis explores attitudes toward these young peoples' varying opinions and viewpoints.

The paper then uses the young people's initiatives to interpret the implications for the construction of new “political” programs shared with these other programs, and discusses ways to open up communication in communities in which it has been obstructed. It then explains the significance of community broadcasters providing a public space in which people can talk in a way that is connected to everyday life, rather than avoiding political content.
