Pluralistic Public Spheres and the Internet Space

Criticism and Possibility

Abstract

This study criticizes the unity of the public sphere concept advocated by the German sociologist Jurgen Habermas and supports the pluralism. Among them, in particular, it is an attempt to criticize or support them in relation to the so-called Internet public sphere theory. It is clear from the criticism of the public sphere concept by many arguers that the unity of the public sphere must be criticized, but not all of the public sphere concept should be abandoned. Based on these, we showed the possibility of pluralistic public spheres in relation to the theory of the Internet public sphere.
