Abstract

  Active phased array antenna for millimeter-wave beam transmission applied to Microwave Rocket is examined. Focusing point is changed to suit the flight altitude of vehicle by controlling the beam waist diameter and the effective diameter of transmission antenna. As a result, a high transmission efficiency is obtained in a wide range of altitude area with keeping the receiving antenna size small. The number of millimeter-wave oscillator, Gyrotron, required for ground facility is just a sixth of the one that does not adopt the phased array antenna.
