Abstract
Chemical vapor deposition (CVD) of graphene is the most promising method for fabricating high quality and large area specimens. Since the optimization of growth is usually based on post growth observation, an enormous number of experiments would be necessary. We have developed a thermal emission microscope (Radiation-mode optical microscopy) which can observe the growth of graphene in real time. This method allows us to instantaneously know the influence of various parameters on growth. On the basis of real-time observation of graphene growth, I will discuss the growth mechanism and introduce the examples to control the growth.
