Abstract
Can we find a new type of sociological theory? This article is an introduction to a new type of sociological theory of the mind by G. H. Mead. But on the way to that, there are two difficulties. One is the misunderstanding associated with a concept of mind. It has been said that Mead’s theory is micro theory that treats only about one individual’s world. Another issue is the concept of the mind itself. It is too ambiguous. In this article, a theory of mind is connected to a theory of time and space. After that, we consider what is mind in Mead’s theory. Subsequently, the possibilities and problems for sociological theory presented by a theory of the mind are discussed.
