Influence of Communin (culture filtrate of Bacillus coli) on the inhibitory action of saliva on Staphylococcus aures was examined with following results.
1) Human saliva was possessed of the sightly inhibitory actionon Staphylococcus aureus.
2) The inhibitory action of human saliva was increased by subcutaneous injection of Communin and the action was the strongest in the 24 hour's saliva after Communin injection.
3) Rabbit's saliva was also possessed of the inhibitory action and it was increased by Communin injection. The same facts were observed in rabbit's serum and its action was stronger than that of saliva.
4) The inhibitory action of both saliva and serum was increased parallelly by Communin injection.
5) The inhibitory action of the both was decreased parallelly by blocking the reticuloendothelial system of rabbit.
6) Decrease of the inhibitory action of the both by blocking was recovered parallelly by Communin injection to some extent.
