Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors that contribute to Post Traumatic Growth (PTG) following hurtful experiences, specifically focusing on self-disclosure and deliberate rumination. The mediation analysis was conducted using data from 205 undergraduate and graduate students who completed the online survey. The results showed that deliberate rumination had mediating effects on both the total and subscale scores of PTG, and that not only a mediating effect but also a direct influence of self-disclosure was significant for the relationships with others of PTG. These findings indicate that deliberate rumination is a critical factor in promoting PTG.
