抄録

Experimental tests were performed to investigate the breaking mechanism of reinforcing bars due to ASR. The specimens were produced to simulate ASR expansion using expansive concrete. The experimental results showed that tensile stress occurs at the bottom of reinforcing bars due to expansive pressure of the concrete. Initial cracks occurred during bending process of reinforcing bars, and the cracks progressed by tensile stress, finally resulting in breaking of reinforcing bars.
