Abstract
The new Amarube bridge was constructed as replacement of the steel trestle bridge in 2010. The girder of Amarube bridge was constructed adjacently to the old bridge. The bridge was set to the right position by lateral yarding and rotation in order to use the existing tunnel continuously and reduce the construction period. The weight of bridge girder was 3,820t. The reaction force to A1 abutment and P1 pier were 4.8MN and 32.6MN, respectively. There has been no construction experience for lateral yarding and rotation of bridge girder with such heavy weight and weight balance. This paper describes both experimental work and analysis conducted to investigate the sliding behavior of the bridge girder. The measurement of actual construction site is reported.
