Abstract
Using the expansive concrete, experimental tests were performed to investigate the failure mechanism of reinforcing bars due to ASR. The crack occurred at the all phases of specimen and the cross section deformed roundly by the expansive concrete. The former rib type reinforcing bars occurred fracture of bar in three places. However the crack and deformation characteristics do not change. Initial crack of the present rib type reinforcing bar is small and this type of bars did not lead to fracture.
