With rapid increase of aged bridges, severe damages due to corrosion have been reported on exsiting highway bridges. In order to develop an evaluation method of load-carrying capacity of severely-corroded steel truss bridges, field loading tests were conducted on an actual damaged truss bridge. Also, analytical studies were conducted using 3-D elastic frame model of the bridge to evaluate effects of corrosion. The measured strain data were compared with the analytical results to verify analytical evaluation of the structural behavior.
