This study aims to develop a sensor to make possible to monitor strain changes of steel members using CFRP sheets. Herein, we focus on an electrical characteristic of CFRP and a CFRP strand sheet consisting of independent CFRP strands. By measuring the change of electrical resistance of each CFRP strand under loading, it makes possible not only to repair or reinforce structural member but also to monitor the condition underneath the CFRP sheet. In order to investigate the feasibility of this concept, fundamental experiments such as material test and tensile tests of steel plate bonded CFRP sheet are carried out. As a result, it was confirmed that a CFRP sheet whose elastic modulus is in medium range had the possibility to realize this concept.
