Abstract
The high strength bolted tensile joints are rarely utilized to connect primary members of bridge structures in spite of their good characteristics such as high fatigue strength, workability and good appearance. One of the reasons is that the load carrying capacity in case of using normal 1,000 MPa class high strength bolts is low. On the other hands, 1,800 MPa class ultra-strength bolts have been developed in recent years. In this study, the mechanical behaviors of this type of joins using 1800MPa class ultra-strength bolts are discussed based on the results of 3D-FE analysis.
