抄録
The studies of timber utilization for civil engineering structure have been positively progressed recently, and timber bridges have been one of those structures. Although the first modern timber bridge in Japan was constructed in 1989, the adequate shear strength for timber bridges has not been prepared yet. Because it is too difficult to obtain shear strength, allowable shear stress was inevitably set too small. The small value leads to huge cross-section of beam, which affect cost and appearance of timber bridge. Therefore, in this study, we proposed the new shear test method utilizing the steel jig which was shear failure can occur prior to bending failure. The performance of was accessed by 3D-FEM and the experiments.
