Abstract

This study evaluates the fatigue durability and the structural characteristic of RC slabs using the expansion joint for cold weather specification by the running wheel fatigue test. The verification was conducted using the load concentration type and the proposed load distribution type for the expansion joint. As a result, the RC slab with the proposed type improved the number of equivalent cycles compared to the conventional type. In addition, the verification of the fatigue durability shows that the number of equivalent cycles is reduced by passing through the expansion joints of the joint point. It is necessary to design and construct in view of the vehicle's running position. Verifying the structural characteristic shows that the proposed type is reduced to increase deflection and strain. Therefore, the proposed type is practical because it improves fatigue resistance and reduces damage compared to the conventional type.
