Abstract

Activities of hepatic enzymes relating to glucose-6-phosphate metabolism of rainbow trout and eel were all depressed by starvation for 15 days. On the other hand, the depression effect of starvation on the activities of hexokinase, phosphoglucomutase and phosphoglucose isomerase of carp hepatopancreas was less than that on hepatic enzymes of rainbow trout and eel. Besides, the activities of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase and glucose-6-phosphatase of carp were greatly elevated by starvation.
From the fluctuation of enzyme activities during starvation, it was clear that the activities of glucose-6-phosphate metabolizing enzymes in carp hepatopancreas increase on starvation for 5-10 days, then decrease slowly, returning to almost normal level on starvation for 30 days.
