The stocking effects on the population are considered using Lomnicki's model which assumes that the resource use of an individual is a function of its rank. When the indi-viduals are in scramble competition, if the number of natural individuals is small, the stock-ing increases the population size. The heavy stocking destroys the population completely. When the individuals are in contest competition, if the number of natural individuals is small, the stocking increases the population size. If the stocked individuals are superior to natural ones in utilizing natural resources, the heavy stocking depress the natural individuals. and finally, the natural individuals are replaced by stocked ones.
