Abstract
In their previous papers (This Journal 23, 113 (1969): Two in the press for this Journal) the authors determined the isotherms for the ternary systems MgCl2-CaCl2-H2O, NaCl-MgCl2-H2O, KCl-MgCl2-H2O and the quaternary systems NaCl-MgCl2-CaCl2-H2O, NaCl-KCl-MgCl2-H20, KCl-MgCl2-CaCl2-H2O at 50°C, for the purpose of obtaining the equilibrium diagram of the five component system NaCl-KCl-MgCl2-CaCl2-H2O at 50°C.
For the ternary system KCl-CaCl2-H2O and the quaternary system NaCl-KCl-CaCl2-H2O, those data found in the paper of Assarsson were used. And for the ternary system NaCl-CaCl2-H2O, the data of Pelling and Poberton in the Seidell's tables were used.
In the present paper, the authors studied the equilibrium value of quinary system to obtain an equilibrium diagram of the five component system, which would be usefull for the calculation of isothermal evaporation of natural gas brine at 50°C, etc. The results obtained were as follows:
1. The isotherms for the quinary system NaCl-KCl-MgCl2-CaCl2-H2O were determined at 50°C.
2. The isotherms for quinary system NaCl-KCl-MgCl2-CaCl2-H2O at 50°C were found verysimilar to the isotherms for the quaternary system KCl-MgCl2-CaCl2-H2O at 50°C, due to the verysmall solubility of NaCl in the system.
