Abstract

This paper reports the isotherm of the quinary system of NaCl-KCl-MgCl2-CaCl2-H20 at 110°C. In order to obtain the isotherm of the quinary system at 110°C, the authors made the experiment to get the isotherms of the ternary and quaternary systems comprising some of these salts which had not been made clear yet. Then the isotherm of the quinary system has been determined by putting the published literature and experimental results together.
The isotherm of NaCl-KCl-MgCl2-CaCl2-H2O system at 110°C resembles that of KCl-MgCl2-CaCl2-H2O system at the same temperature. As the temperature rises, the contents of sodium chloride, potassium chloride and magnesium chloride increase, but that of calcium chloride decreases. Similarly, as the temperature rises, the production areas of the double salt of CaCl2·KCl, tachhydrite and carnallite are enlarged, but that of MgCl2·6H2O is reduced.
