Abstract

Feasibility of indirect solar seawater desalination process was studied numerically. It was hypothesized that the collector area was 2,500m2, rainfall was collected, collect efficiency of rain was 80% and water consumption was 10m3/day, and then water ballance was calculated.
Potable water production by solar desalination is high in summer, but in winter it becomes 20% or less of summer.
Rainfall is high in June and September, and greatly varied by seasonally and daily. It was concluded that very large storage was necessary for constant water supply.
