Abstract
 Al2O3-SiC composite was synthesized from natural pyrophyllite and clay by carbothermal reduction reaction.The Al2O3-SiC composite was added to carbon-containing refractories for improving the oxidation resistance of the refractories,and the effect of the addition on the oxidation resistance was investigated.The results showed that by calcining the admixtures of pyrophyllite-carbon and clay-carbon at 1600 ℃~1700 ℃ in argon atmosphere,the Al2O3-SiC composite could be easily obtained,and by adding the Al2O3-SiC composite,the oxidation resistance of the carbon-containing refractories was greatly improved.
