Al2O3-SiC　composite　was　synthesized　from　natural　pyrophyllite　and　clay　by　carbothermal　reduction　reaction．The　Al2O3－SiC　composite　was　added　to　carbon－containing　refractories　for　improving　the　oxidation　resistance　of the　refractories，and　the　effect　of　the　addition　on　the　oxidation　resistance　was　investigated．The　results　showed that　by　calcining　the　admixtures　of　pyrophyllite－carbon　and　clay－carbon　at 1600 ℃～1700 ℃ in　argon　atmosphere，the　Al2O3-SiC　composite　could　be　easily　obtained，and　by　adding　the　Al2O3－SiC　composite，the　oxidation resistance　of　the　carbon－containing　refractories　was　greatly　improved．
