Abstract
We pay attention to homogeneity of the material as one of the methods of reducing the life variance of castable. The relationship between flow characteristic of finer particle fraction, fluidity of the castable, homogeneity of the castable was investigated in order to develop the homogeneous castable.Yield stress(Y) and plastic viscosity(η) of finer particle fraction and aggregate migration length(R) and time(T) of castable were measured. The ratio η/Y and R/T as flow index were calculated. The η/Y and R/T have maximal point as a function of water addition. Before and after the maximal point, finer particle fraction became agglutination or separation. Yield stress and plastic viscosity increased by thickening agent and fumed silica. It showed the increase of plastic viscosity was larger than that of yield stress because of the increase in η/Y. Moreover it has been eiucidated that there is a relationship between the flow characteristic of the finer particle faction and that fluidity of the castable because there is a correlation between η/Y and R/T.
