Abstract
Clinical management of gallstone disease has been in progress by revolutionary development of medical imaging and therapeutic technology. The Japanese Society of Gastroenterology has announced the guideline for gallstone disease in 2009, and this is now being revised. Meanwhile, the academic committee of Japanese Biliary Association has performed a national survey on gallstone disease, and explored an actual circumstance on gallstone disease treatment in Japan. In this article, an evidence-based medicine of gallstone disease treatment has been summarized according to such evidence reports.
