Although ERCP-related procedures have become an indispensable procedure for biliary tract diseases, the frequency of adverse events (AE) is high in the field of gastrointestinal endoscopy, and when AE occur, they can sometimes become a serious condition. In addition, AE at a certain frequency not only for trainees but also for instructors. Therefore, the endoscopist is required to perform the procedure at all times while assuming an effort to safely complete the procedure (risk management) or a coping method (safety management) when an AE occurs. The factors are roughly divided into procedural factors and patient factors, but we think that procedural factors should be avoided as much as possible. In this article, we present and outline cases that have been used as coping strategies or lessons learned for AE caused by ERC-related procedures.
