Abstract

Introduction: We considered the relationship between morphology of RS and anatomy of the bile duct (BD) at hepatic hilum (HH) during laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC).

Materials and Methods: Recent 1 year and 9 months we experienced LC in 312 cases. They were classified into 5 types of RS and 4 types of running of BD at HH. We evaluated the relationship between those classifications and the influence of other factors.

Results: RS was identified as Open type in 32.4%, Closed in 29.5%, Scar in 17.3%, Slit in 13.4% and uncertain in 7.4%. There were significant differences (body weight: p=0.011, BMI: p=0.008) between Open and other types. Anatomy of BD at HH revealed 79.5% in type I, 3.8% in II, 6.1% in III, and 10.6% in IV. There was no significant difference (p=0.774) between type I and others.

Conclusion: Although there was no relationship between the morphology of RS and the running of BD at HH, the former was suggested the involvement of obesity.
