Abstract
We studied on anatomical correlation of bile duct and portal vein in the hepatic hilum, performing computed tomography under cholangiography (Cholangio-CT) in 71 patients with obstructive jaundice and evaluated the role of Cholangio-CT as a preoperative examination. Because bile duct and portal vein are depicted simultaneously on the CT images, the information on anatomical correlation of bile duct and portal vein can be obtained by Chlangio-CT. In 89% of cases, posterior segment branch of bile duct (PB) originated in the cranial side of anterior segment branch of portal vein (AV) and coursed in the dorsal side of AV, on the other hand, in 11% of cases, PB originated in the ventral side of AV and coursed in the caudate side of AV. In 97% of cases, medial segment branch of bile duct (MB) originated in the right side of the umbilicalp ortion of portal vein (UP)and in 3% of cases, MB originatedi n the cranial side of UP. Cholangio-CTis beneficiala s a preoperative examination in patients with hilar biliary malignancy to assume dissection line of hilar bile duct consideringa natomy of portal vein.
