Many artificial satellites are in geosynchronous orbits, and the malfunction of these satellites affect weather forecasts, communications, and other satellite application fields. With optical observations, periodical change of brightness caused by the type and the shape of the satellite has been observed. The rotational condition of space debris permits the estimation of its approximate shape. This research calculated the rotation periods of some satellites and pieces of space debris in geosynchronous orbit which were detected in observational images. This paper is a discussion of methods of observing and detecting the light curve of geosynchronous orbit debris.
