Abstract
Experiments were carried out on biological toxicity of Mamushisnake venom and the following results were obtained.
1. LD 50 to ddN male mice weighing 17 to 20 g. are 19-23 γ intravenously, 27-31 γ intraperitoneally and 97-118 γ intramuscularly.
2. Hemorrhagic action is recognized even in 0.08 γ per 0.1 ml. of the venom. Out of four species of land-inhabiting snake-Mamushi-snake venom, Himehabu-snake venom, Habu-snake venom and Sakishimahabu-snake venom-Mamushi-sanke venom has the strongest hemorrhagic activity.
3. The hemorrhagic and myo-necrotic action are influenced by pH.
4. The hemorrhagic and lethal activity are inactivated by heating at 70°C for 5 minute or 100°C for 1 minute.
