We field-assayed the pheromone-like activity of farnesol and its homologs epoxygeraniol and epoxyfarnesol to the apple leafminer moth, Phyllonorycter ringoniella. Results showed significant capture of apple leafminer moths at several time points for the epoxyfarnesol trap, but no such capture with the epoxygeraniol, farnesol, or ethanol traps. These findings suggest the possible use of epoxyfarnesol as an integrated control agent.
