Abstract

The purpose of this study was to clarify the recognition of dating violence among college students and the response when getting advice from a friend. The survey period was from November of 2017 to January of 2018, and the subjects obtained valid responses from questionnaires from 247 men and women who were university students aged 18 to 23 years old and were not married. The average age of the subjects was 19.7(±0.9)years, 200(81%)with dating experience, 45(18.2%) without contact, 2(0.8%)unknown. Recognition of the university student’s date DV had a lower perception of “dominant/submissive violence” than “sexual violence” and “physical/psychological violence.” Among the subordinate items of dating violence recognition, significant differences were found by gender, by experience, and by whether they had attended a dating violence lecture. There were 41 people(17%)who had received advice from friends. When getting advice, there were many responses such as “listen to their story” and “suggest they should breakup.”
