Abstract
The authors investigated the method for determination of xylitol in blood, and obtained satisfactory results by following procedure; Namely, glucose in blood is decomposed with alkali and eliminated by anion exchange resin. Xylitol is oxidised with sodium periodate and formaldehyide formed is colorated by chromotropic acid. Optical density is measured at 570mμ. According to this method the recovery percent of xylitol in blood is about. 94%.
Furthermore, we investigated the changes of xylitol and glucose concentration in blood after administration of xylitol to rabbits.
