Abstract
This paper reports on medical customs in the southern part of the Izu Islands, focusing on the shamanism of Hachijojima and Aogashima. Miko(a priestess)is the center of godliness, and also serves as a counselor in addition to ritual acts. The content of the health consultation that Miko responded was categorized in terms of folk etiology, and compared with previous studies, it was coded in many ways. As for the contents not applicable, we could find common items in the festival texts. The work of considering the traditional view of illness, health and treatment of people living in the area seems to be useful for considering problems in the field of health care.
