Abstract

Recently, large-scale genome analysis using next-generation sequencing (NGS) technology has been actively performed, and this technique can be applied to genotoxicity evaluation for chemical substances. By using whole genome / exome analyses of chemical-exposed samples, non-biased and global mutation analysis becomes possible, therefore this method is expected to complement conventional genotoxicity tests.

In this symposium, I will introduce the current status of non-biased mutation analysis using NGS, and discuss prospects for application to a novel evaluation system of chemicals.
