A major challenge in translational science, which bridges nonclinical to clinical, is to evaluate validity of a drug target, or link between the target molecules and disease. We are working to address this problem using so-called dry analysis. Most of the team members have experience as wet researchers engaged in research fields such as pharmacology, toxicology, and pharmacokinetics. Although their computational skills are not competent with genuine bioinformaticians, their experience and expertise in diverse fields of wet researches show great advantages in setting the adequate research questions, find/produce appropriate data sets, interpreting the computed outcomes, and documenting actionable deliverables. I feel the multi-disciplinary teamwork is a key for productive dry analysis. In this presentation, I will introduce what is important in addressing key questions related to translational science using dry analysis, presenting some examples from our analysis. I hope that it will be of some help in considering future career development.
