Abstract

In order to clarify the effects of seismic enhancements, horizontal oscillating tests have been carried out 158 Conventional Wooden Houses both before and after enhancements. From the investigation the natural frequency of 2-storied Conventional Wooden Houses which were built before 1981, can be estimated by both the wall area index and the type of roof. The more the shear wall and the lighter roof , the higher the natural frequency becomes. From the comparison of both before and after enhancements, the natural frequency becomes higher and the amplitude of torsional vibration becomes smaller after enhancements.
