A Fundamental Study on Commercial Vehicle Drivers’ Hours of Service Regulations in Japan

Abstract

This paper discusses the concept that the commercial vehicle drivers’ hour of service regulations in japan is based on, through comparing with that in EU and US. We point out the needs, firstly to regulate not only working hours but also driving hours, secondly to consider the definition of each term used in the regulations, and finally to force also each driver to manage his/her working and driving hours.
