Ministry of Transport introduced the cost-benefit analysis for port investment as one of the reliable evaluation systems in determining which projects to be newly started in 1997 FY. The Ministry also began to research on the methodology of economic evaluation for port investment which included the method for cost-benefit analysis. The outline of the research and the discussion points in it are described. The evaluation method for port investment is now on the way of improvement and continuous examination is still necessary.
