Abstract
The Japanese Society for the Science of Design was founded in 1953, and has currently
over 2,500 members. The JSSD has been continuing the transdisciplinary studies from the beginning
of establishment. We have regarded that the design studies are the value creation behavior for
contributing to a human life and life culture. We are now the driving force behind International Association
of Societies of Design Research. Although the field of design studies has been expanded and
evolved with times, the further progress will be required at the time of the 60th anniversary.
