Abstract

It is pointed out that multi-objective simultaneous design is very important. In the previous paper, we proposed a method for the design based on the concept of set-based approach with preference for design variable and performance. In the present study, the extension of the design method such as the applicability to non-monotonic phenomena and the introduction of the new concept of robustness as the relation between performances and design variables is realized. For considering the applicability of the proposed method, as an example, we deal with multi-objective simultaneous satisficing design of structural and control system for a product that is rotary pendulum with stepped rectangular shape and holes in the pendulum. For the design problem, four performances (three control performances and one structural performance) and six design variables (three control variables and three structural variables) are prepared. The simultaneous satisficing treatment of the shape design as structural system and the feedback control design as control system is carried out. As a result, the range solutions of six design variables that satisfy the objective range of four performances can be obtained and the influence of the preference on the result is shown. The effectiveness and usefulness of the proposed method could be shown.
