Abstract
We have developed an apparatusto measure a weft tension continuouslyon a weaving loom.
This apparatus is very simple in mechanism and easily adapted to any shuttle loom.
By using this apparatus, we have studied the variation of a weft tension, and the effect of winding tension and the tension device of shuttle. The main results are as follows :
(1) The apparatus is very useful for continuous measurement of a weft tension in a wea ing process. We cannot, however, avoid the influence of small vibration in a loom.
(2) In this experiment, the winding tension of about 20 g is the most suitable because of the least variation of a weft tension during the unwinding weft yarn from a full winded spool.
(3) The furs attached inside a shuttle serve as a variation stabilizer of weft tension, but the conventional tension device inside a shuttle must be reconsidered.
