A tubular fabric knitted by a circular knitting machine is plied into a plane and wound onto a take-up roller. The distance between the knitting and winding-point varies along the periphery of the cylinder and thus courses of a knit fabric are bowed.
Taking account of the above phenomena, a theoretical equation to predict the degree of bow of course is derived. Some models of bow course are calculated using the equation. Comparisons of the given data with the theoretical value have shown the effective method to prevent the fabric defect, “bow course”.
