This article summarizes the testing methods by newly-developed instruments, carried out in our inspection house. It also summarizes the test results of cotton and cotton/polyester blended yarn produced in Japan. Following testing methods, instruments and test results are described.
(1) The simultaneous determination of yarn length and number of yarn defects (slubs) on winders by using both electronic yarn meter and electronic yarn clearer.
(2) Yarn inspections by Uster's U% and IPI values and their test results.
(3) Test results of the yarn strength by single strand method and yarn strength tester by single strand method, newly developed by our laboratory.
(4) Photographical appearance standards for shape of cheese, established by our laboratory.
(5) Testing method for blend irregurarity by evaluating dyeing uneveness after knitting.
(6) Reagents for rapid fiber identification, named “Bokenstain” developed by our laboratory.
(7) Snarl index by Kringelfactor Meter and test results of number of twists.
