Abstract
The velocity field within the melt spinning filament was analyzed quantitatively by solving the equations of continuity and momentum under the conditions of melt spinning.A parabolic distribution of viscosity across the thread was given as known.Solutions showed that within a melt spinning filament, an approximately parabolic velocity distribution exists superposed on a flat velocity profile.The parabola portion however, is so small that the flow paffern may safely be regarded flat and purely extentional under all conceivable conditions of melt spinning.
