Currently, there is a need in industry to use magnetically suspended pumps for low specific speed pumps. There has not been enough research on pumps that support the impeller using only magnetic levitation force (that is, suppress thrust to the maximum extent) and achieve performance as a low specific speed pump. Therefore, we have started basic research to develop a magnetically suspended low specific speed centrifugal pump. In this paper, we present performance and pressure measurement results using an experimental apparatus with a characteristic impeller shape of a magnetically suspended low specific speed centrifugal pump. In addition, the validity of the numerical analysis was confirmed by comparing experiment and numerical analysis, and the effect of the thrust adjustment method focusing on the main plate shape was verified using the numerical analysis results.
